Dumpster Days: February 10 - 13

MMNA has arranged for a dumpster to be located in the area of 22nd Place and Richmond. The dumpster will be set on Friday, February 10th and taken away on Monday, February 13th.

The dumpsters are a service for MM residents, not for rental or commercial cleanup or your in-laws or friends.

Regulations for eligible items:

  • No whole limbs, whole trees, or other tree debris
  • No grass clippins
  • No Freon bearing appliances
  • No roofing materials
  • No air conditioners
  • No car parts or tires
  • No whole buildings, garages, or sheds
If you cannot fit your stuff in the dumpster, don't bring it. The city will not pick up things left by the dumpster and the neighbors who kindly host the dumpsters will be stuck with it.

Be a good neighbor - if you are going to the dumpster this year, ask your neighbors if you can take eligible items for them.

DO NOT OVERFILL THE DUMPSTER above 3/4 of the way up, as it creates transpiration problems. There is one driver to set and empty all the dumpsters for the entire city, so the time of their arrival and departure is unknown.

  • The dumpsters are for MM residents only, not your in-laws, or commercial business (no using the dumpster to clean out rental property, please)
  • Do not leave your stuff by the dumpster or on neighbors' lawns. The city will not pick it up, and those neighbors who generously hosted the dumpsters will be stuck with it.
  • NO: whole trees or huge limbs or grass clippings, car parts, tires, major appliances, refrigerators, air conditioners, or other Freon-bearing appliances, toxic materials, buildings, parts of buildings, sheds or roofing materials.
  • Call the City for Bulky Waste Pickup 918-596-9777 for those items that cannot go in the dumpster or be picked up by residential waste service. There is a small fee for this service.
  • Do not overfill the dumpsters. Come back after they have been emptied.

Fair-Time Notes & Reminders

Tulsa State Fair Oct 1-11, 2015
Every fall our quiet little neighborhood becomes ground zero for the fun and festivities that are the Tulsa State Fair.
While most visitors come and go without incident, here are some tips for coping with the crowds:
  • Mayo Meadow Neighborhood Assn. (MMNA) has worked with the City for the last ten years to control parking and crowds in the neighborhood during the Fair. It is important that you communicate with the City immediately if you see any laws being broken or your property abused.
  • Neighbors in the far northern part of the neighborhood will receive a letter about restrictions and regulations during this time. But if you see problems in any part of the neighborhood, call the cops.
  • If possible, park your cars in the driveway and lock them.
  • If you have to park on the street, do not leave any valuables visible and lock your car.
  • Fair visitors are not allowed to block access to your driveway or any other part of your property. Call the police immediately if you find yourself in this situation. The offending car will be towed and ticketed.
  • Leave your porch light or front hall light on in the evening
  • Tuck your lawn furniture and other valuables away if they are in the front or side yards.
  • About a week before the Fair a “no right turn” sign will mysteriously appear at 21st and Pittsburg. For those of us who routinely make right turns at the corner the rest of the year, be prepared to be surprised and ticketed.
  • If you can find an alternative route during the Fair, it might be quicker to take that route, as traffic will increase in the neighborhood about a week before the Fair as vendors and other businesses will be coming to the area.
