Tom Baddley has a blog called
Lost Tulsa, which features photos of Tulsa buildings of note that are abandoned, gone or going soon. Tom has a collection of
photos of Mayo Meadow Shopping Center from May 2003, when most of the stores were still open and the neon signs were still lit. He also wrote
a blog entry about the shopping center.

thanks for these historical photos!
Glad I got over there when I did. Although I didn't get shots of the shopping center during its heyday, it at least still had a pulse back in 2003 when I photographed it. As you can imagine, I'm not too keen on the idea of a Walmart in Mayo Meadow's place, but I'm hoping that they will plan this out enough that it doesn't just become another Generica retail corner.
For those who don't like the Picasa layout for the pics stored locally on Lost Tulsa, I also have a duplicate set on Flickr. See Mayo Meadow Shopping Center Photoset. Read the comments, and learn where some of the neon signs ended up.
I still remember going to the drugstore on the corner of the center and getting a "double cherry fosfate"...which was nothing more than cherry syrup and soda water. I paid for it with monies from the sale of kool aide.
As a kid growing up I drove my go cart up and down the streets of 23rd and around Mayo Meadows back in 1958. I left and now again live on 23rd
