Neighborhood - News & Notes

These will be distributed in the upcoming newsletter, but thought we would give our Web readers a sneak peak ...

News & Notes

Mayo Meadow Vision 2025 Project. Larry Synar and Carol Holly met with the City of Tulsa to begin planning the implementation of our Mayo Meadow entry gates at 21st Street and Pittsburg Avenue. This project will be funded through Vision 2025’s neighborhood improvement funding. Our neighborhood’s part of the project will be to design and maintain landscaping around the gates. The Landscaping Committee will meet immediately following the business meeting on Saturday June 10th at Memorial Baptist Church. So, anyone with a green thumb and a desire to help beautify our neighborhood is urged to attend. Everyone is welcome!
News & Notes -- continued

First Annual MMNA Neighborhood Garage Sale – Recap. There were at least 15 garage sales in our neighborhood on Saturday, April 22nd, in conjunction with the neighborhood garage sale. All participants said that their sale was a response to the information in the March newsletter, and all suggested it would be fun to do it again. Watch for details in an upcoming newsletter. Thanks Bev Clark for the idea, and thanks to all our neighbors who participated!

Your donations to MMNA are tax deductible. The generous support of our neighborhood residents have provided the resources needed to maintain and grow the neighborhood association. We have appreciated the support both of time, talent and money. Now we are excited to announce that MMNA is now incorporated as a tax-exempt organization, therefore your financial donations are now tax deductible. Checks may be made payable to the Mayo Meadow Neighborhood Association, and mailed in care of: MMNA Treasurer Erica Parker, 4120 E. 22nd Pl., 74114. She will be able to provide you with a receipt for your donation.

Recycle and support your neighborhood. You can also donate some recyclable items to financially support the MMNA. Neighborhood resident Carol Holly has graciously agreed to collect and recycle certain items with the proceeds going to our treasury. She will accept glass, aluminum, batteries, plastic and toner items only. You may leave bagged items on her driveway, 4217 E. 26th St.

MMNA is seeking recollections and pictures of the neighborhood. The association has been collecting stories and photos of our neighborhood history, including the shopping center. These following neighbors have identified themselves as living in the neighborhood at least 30 years:
Barbara Perrualt; Dorothy Gibbons; Richard and Daisy Wolfenbarger; Anne Spitzmiller; Ray Corgill; Joanne Welsh; Dick and Earla Anderson; Steve and Nancy Smith; Cy Engle; Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Peters; B. J. Utley; and Ruby Collier. Arla Vreeland, Katy Hoppa, Matt and Haley Smith and Sharon Hackl are the second generation who have lived in our neighborhood. John Nidiffer’s family developed the shopping center and our neighborhood. He and his son, Clay Nidiffer and family now live in the neighborhood. Any more vintage neighbors we have missed? Contact Jeanie Newell and 747-6389 and she will send a questionnaire to collect your memories.
