1| Pay attention to routine, and report any suspicious activity. If you know when your neighbors are normally home, you’ll also notice, and help to deter, criminals.

2| Tell trusted neighbors when you’re out of town. If appropriate, give them your contact information and a spare key, and ask them to retrieve mail and papers–or stop delivery.

Keep your neighborhood clean. Organize upkeep of vacant lots and removal of debris. It tells thieves and vandals that people in the neighborhood care and watch out for one another.
