Steve Berg of KOTV-Channel 6 is doing a story on the demolition of the Mayo Meadow Shopping Center. He interviewed neighborhood resident Michael Bates about the history of the shopping center and was going to visit with Mr. Nidiffer and look at his scrapbooks of the center's history. The story should air on one of their broadcasts this evening.
In related news ... during our general meeting in November, some residents expressed interest in preserving the neon "Mayo Meadow Shopping" sign at the shopping center. After the meeting, the association contacted those in charge of the demolition and were notified that the letters had already been sold to an individual (we're unsure of the identity of the buyer) who intends to preserve the sign. The association has asked to be contacted should the first buyer reconsider purchasing the sign.
