The chain link fence went up around Mayo Meadow shopping center about a week ago. Thursday night the sign and the soffet lights were still lit, but Friday night everything was dark, and demolition had begun at the south end of the center, in the old Yale Cleaners space. Ark Wrecking Company is handling the demolition work.

Did anyone make arrangements with the Walmart people to get the Mayo Meadow letters off the shopping center??? I volunteered to be on that committee, but didn't get the names and phone numbers for the others who were working on it, so have been out of the loop. It would be a shame to see the letters just get wrecked. I'm available to make some phone calls if needed, but I don't have the contact info for the Walmart reps. Thanks, Laura Mumford C: 230-5853
Someone tell Laura Mumford,(No e mail address shown) that I spoke/e mailed Carol Holly about the sign letters and she informed me that the letters belong to the owner and that he will have a say in where and how they're used and that if anyone were to attempted to take them down they would be trespassing, which I believe that is totally false. When the owner turns over the property to the demolisher, which he apparently has already done, they will own everything. Secondly I had no intentions of taking down the letters w/o permission, I only said I was willing to help do that. Later upon closer inspection I learned that the letters were made of metal, not wood as previously thought and discussed at the meeting, and they have Neon PINK lights in them which means there would be mechanisms in the back of the sign of course like transformers, glass tubing and electrical wiring. I seriously doubt we would want a PINK Neon sign for our sign erected ANYWHERE in our neighborhood. Holly never mentioned this in any of her discussions.

I suggest you 1) Reset your clock. its over two hours slow at present.
2)I suggest the webmaster of this site change The "Choose the identity" headings. Other indicates you have a website which few people do, at least in this neighborhood, I'm sure and Anonymous is misleading as you can easily sign off with your name and e mail address if you want to making it non anonymous. i.e.: Adapt the website to our use, or that which is most applicable.
