Mayo Meadow To Receive $25,000 Vision 2025 Grant

City officials have notified the MMNA that our Vision 2025 project has been selected for funding. A news conference has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at 21st & Pittsburg. As a quick summary, the MMNA proposal would create signed, brick entryways into the neighborhood at the 21st & Pittsburg entrance.

Here is the notice we received from the city:

Mayor Bill LaFortune will announce the second group of Vision 2025 neighborhood enhancement projects at an outdoor news conference at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, at Pittsburg and 21st Place, near the Mayo Meadow Neighborhood Association project site.

The Mayo Meadow group will receive $25,000 to build landscaped entryway walls that will use stones salvaged from the old Mayo Meadow Shopping Center. Thousands of visitors will see the 21st Street entryway each year since it will be located directly south of Expo Square.

A total of 61 applications were received for Phase 2. The 54 projects to be announced Wednesday were recommended by a citizens' task force made up of representatives from each council district. The 54 recipients' requests range from $700 to the maximum of $25,000 and total $1,019,124. The complete list will be posted on www.cityoftulsa.org after the news conference on Wednesday.

About $2 million were put in the Neighborhood Fund after voters approved Proposition Four of the Vision 2025 Package in September 2003. The Task Force will accept applications for the remaining $840,000 during Phase 3, which is scheduled to begin in April.

Many thanks to Carol Holly, Larry Synar and the MMNA volunteers whose efforts made this project possible.
